Quitessence
Created by: karenanne
Pronunciation: kwit ES ens
Sentence: Now that she had learned she was soon going to be rich, Wilby Cand decided that it would be great fun to do all those things she had always fantasized about doing if she never had to work again. She slept in on Monday morning, then sent out a company-wide e-mail to let everyone know that she wasn't coming in because she "didn't feel like it" and anyway, "Work screws with my buzz." She went on to describe her distaste with her boss's body odor, in addition to some of his personal habits, such as picking his nose when he thought no one was looking. She said it was too bad that he would be in charge of the whole company soon, since the big boss was "probably about to be prosecuted for fraud and/or will die of extreme old age." The e-mail took her a while to write since she also took care to personally mention each of her incompetent colleagues. All in all, it was the quitessence of a perfect day, replete with gratuitous cattiness, embarrassing (for everyone else) revelations, and sweet revenge, not to mention the sleeping-in part. Only after that did she read the letter again and realize that it said that she "COULD BE a winner," not that she WAS a winner....
Etymology: quit + quintessence (the purest or most perfect example of something)

I like it! Resiglation was my first verbotomy, but I was feeling grindstoned this AM and woke up late. - purpleartichokes, 2007-05-04: 06:02:00
By the way, I really enjoyed your splinterview. Being that you are an attorney, I was wondering if you could advise me if there is any legal recourse I can take against players who pick on my tunacy (I get songs stuck in my head). nice try purple but I'm sure jedijawa will not take sides (especially after he sees my "May the 4th be with you" joke - Jabberwocky, 2007-05-04: 15:46:00
Good one Jabber! "Fluke, I am your flounder." Thank goodness I don't get lyricless tunes stuck in my head. - purpleartichokes, 2007-05-04: 16:20:00
Haha! You know, I tell people you can always sue anyone for anything ... but good luck getting a judgment (I prefer negotiation over litigation). Thanks for reading my spliterview. :-) - jedijawa, 2007-05-07: 11:28:00
