He also told them that having money leftover from their Christmas spending could provide temptation to spend unwisely and lead them to sin, so they could save themselves by donating more to his good works. His parishoners blindly gave to his church in order to receive salvation, but wondered how the good Brother James could afford to drive a Cadillac and fly so often to crusades in Hawaii, Monaco and Las Vegas.
