Accelerangst: /ax-sell-er-angst/ Philip was in a hurry, which seemed like what 99% of the suburbanites were most of the time. He just moved farther outside his comfort zone of freeways and fast moving cars to the fringes where the slow rural life abuts the encroaching planned neighborhoods. He thought having a bigger house and a lawn to mow would be a step up for him. Little did he know he would now be butting heads, or bumpers, with wandering livestock or an occassional combine. However now he seemed to find himself accelerangst up behind slow moving pickups, shaking his fist and downing a few swigs of Mylanta in one hand while honking his horn with the other. Etymology: accelerate + angst Created by: arrrteest.

A friend of mine always said, “Beware of old men in hats driving Buicks.”

VERBOTICISMS: (Invented words created by the Verbotomy Writers)

Superfluffluent: /soo-per-fluff-floo-ent/ Desmond liked clean floors. He was constantly sweeping and vacuuming his apartment to an obsession. You would be hard pressed to find any dust bunnies under any furniture or his bed. That is, until his girlfriend recently moved in with her long-haired torti, Fluffhead. Now Fluffhead is a sociable cat who likes to rub up against you or jump up and nestle in your lap, leaving patches of fur that drives Desmond bonkers. Fluffy left a trail of her superfluffluent everywhere, which seemed not to be affected by the vacuum cleaner.

Any guesses as to how long this relationship will last? Etymology: super, from superfluous + fluff + effluent, as in waste Created by: arrrteest.

Matriarchenemy

DEFINITION: v. To join a discussion group or social network and immediately become identified as a villain by picking on the friendliest person in the community. n. A person who steps on other people’s toes and kicks bunnies.

You're going to step on my droppings...

VERBOTICISMS: (Invented words created by the Verbotomy Writers)

Matriarchenemy: /mey-tree-arch-en-uh-mee/ Janice became the matriarchenemy of the book club regulars by verbally attacking the opinions of Dody, the friendliest and most popular member at the neighbourhood library Book of the Month discussion. Etymology: matriarch + archenemy (antagonist, adversary, attacher) Created by: Stevenson0.

Hostylist: /hoss sty list/ Joy was the nicest hairstylist in town. Her clients loved her manely because she did the best coifs for miles around. Her sweet nature was an extension of the fact she loved her work. She worked with Bobbi Pin, Al Lopecia, Hairy Mullet and Dan Druff, who all loved her too. One day a new stylist joined their team. Her name was Delilah and after a short time, it became evident that she was jealous of Joy and made it her mission to be mean to her, lock, stock and barrel. The highlights of any given day were to shampoo-poo her work, upbraid her in front of clients, tease her mercilessly and cut her no slack. She combed Joy’s work for flaws and ratted her out whenever she could. Poor Joy was getting s-tressed from all these brushes with Delilah. She had to find a permanent solution to her dilemma. Nothing she said or did could straighten Delilah out. On a tip from a client, Joy went to the bank and borrowed enough money to buy the salon. She renamed it The Joy of Hair. Delilah’s face was colored red (actually auburn, with vermilion tints) when she found out that Joy would be her new head boss. As she streaked out of the salon to flyaway, she cursed Joy and the others(who gave her a finger wave)with that age-old hostylist’s curse: “Curl up and dye!”
Unfortunately for Delilah, outside, in her haste, she banged into a large mousse. The coroner later ruled her death a barbericide. The moral of this hair-raising story is that evil is at the root of all evil. Etymology: hostile (characterized by enmity or ill will or impossible to bring into friendly accord) & sty (a place where pigs abound)& stylist (an artist who is a master of a particular style
or someone who cuts or beautifies hair)

Camaraderaptor: /kä’mÉ™-rä’dÉ™-rāp’tÉ™r/ After Georgette appended gushingly complimentary comments to every one of the submissions on the poetry blog, Flo just couldn’t help herself. She was, by her very nature, a camaraderaptor. She posted a stinging limerick, the first line of which was, “A bunny rabbit named Georgette… .” Etymology: ‘camara,’ var. of ‘kamara,’ soviet-era spy technology popular with kgb notable Boris Badinov; ‘der,’ German article; ‘apt,’ particularly appropriate, as this definition vis. doseydotes; ‘or,’ denoting approximately equally-weighted alternatives, as in ‘defecate or vacate the porcelain receptacle.’ Created by: stache.

Spot on.

Mirthworm: /murth werm/ Darryl was a mirthworm. He was the office geek, allegedly hired to fix all the computer & communications equipment problems. This meant he had a lot of time on his hands. And everyone knows that idol hands are the Devil’s workshop. He wasted his days bothering people by sending them or telling them jokes that only he found funny. Every April Fool’s Day, he could be counted on to author tasteless jokes and tricks at the expense of his fellow workers. Like when he had everyone tie plastic baggies around their telephones, because the phone company would be blowing air through the waves to clean out dust and the baggies prevented the dust from getting all over one’s desk. Or like the times he had left phone messages for people to call back a Mr. Don Keyes or Mr. G. Raff and the telephone number was that of the local zoo. Or when he left messages to call Germaine Shepherd or Greta Dane, at the local dog pound. Oh yeah, Darryl was a funster alright.
But his co-workers grew tired of his pranks and the stupid jokes he regaled them with daily. Jokes that were either of a racist, sexist or just plain unfunny nature. Jokes that interrupted the hard work they tried to get on with every day. This year would be different, for sure. Through clever negotiations with their long-suffering boss…a man who was fed up with Darryl’s tomfoolery and his lack of actual accomplishment in his job, Darryl’s days of clowning were over.
Yes, they could not wait for him to get the notice this morning on his computer from the boss about his upcoming transfer. Yes, Darryl would be leaving one way or another. He could have his choice of transfer destinations where his company had branch offices: Nimrod, Minnesota; Monkey Run,Arkansas; Ding Dong,Texas;Boring,Oregon;or the new Canadian branch in Boobey Brook, NB. And as a joke to this serious memo, he was being advised that the company was putting him on the Wittiness Relocation Program. Who’s laughing now, Darryl??? Etymology: mirth (laughter, merriment) & worm (a person who has a nasty or unethical character undeserving of respect or a software program capable of reproducing itself that can spread from one computer to the next over a network)
