Detestpatterned: /dee test pat turnd/ Each spring Joe and Melba had a tv marathon and picked an ancient tv series to watch in it’s entirety for that weekend. After the sluggish weekend, which also meant little physical activity and way too much junk food, they went into a guilty funk of self-loathing…they were detestpatterned. This spring’s weekend was no exception, when they watched the entire “Beverly Hillbillies” series, black & white and then coloured versions. By Sunday night, they had strong Ozark accents, had eaten possum in many forms, drank Granny’s moonshine (rhematis’ medicine) and carved their pool cues into pot passers for when they sat at the fancy eating table in the billiards room. Joe also learned how to play “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” on his fiddle! Well, doggy… Etymology: Detested (disliked intensely; felt antipathy or aversion towards) & Test Pattern (A geometric chart transmitted by a television station to assist viewers in adjusting reception…since tv was not 24-7 in the old black & white tv days, the test pattern came on a while before the show started and was the last thing you saw on after the National Anthem played…boy does my age show!)

Wireuleaving: /y-r-u-leave-ing/ Tilly was in tears. Phil had said nothing to her in the last 48 hours, apart from ‘Yo, bruv’ when she’d handed him a cup of tea. Given that he went to Eton and spoke with a public school accent, this was infuriating. Ickathon: /ikəθän/ What started as a dare, ended as a ickathon as a group of friends spent their vacations watching Green Acres episodes non-stop. Besides the psychological effects of spending so much time with such insipid drivel several of the women and one of the guys took almost a week to loose the Eva Gabor-esque accent. Etymology: ick (exclamation used to express strong distaste or disgust) + marathon (a long-lasting or difficult task or operation of a specified kind) Created by: artr.
