StevensonO’s mirritation annoys its way to the top

DEFINITION: n.A state of irrational irritation, which inevitably develops whenever you work or live with someone whose annoyingly bad habits happen to mirror your own.

Do you guys mind eating somewhere else?

VERBOTICISMS: (Invented words created by the Verbotomy Writers)

Mirritation: /mir-i-tey-shun/ Mirritation occurs when you get angry at your kids for copying and doing something stupid that you just did. Etymology: MIRRITATION – noun – from MIRROR + IRRITATION Created by: Stevenson0.

Good word. It could also be used to describe how you feel when you’re having a ‘bad hair day’.

Habituhate: /Habb-it-u-hayt/ Gemma knew that she had some annoying little quirks, but the worst thing was her flatmate seemed to have picked some of them up since she moved in just over six months ago. The thought of putting up with it for the next six months made her feel very habituhate indeed. Etymology: Habit(a regular tendency to do something.) + Hate(An intense dislike) =Habituhate Created by: TJayzz.

Nice looking word, cleverly blended.

Apeability: /ay pa bil it ee/ Aperil had an annoying apeability. Whomever she worked with, she could ape their bad habits within a very short time to the point where it annoyed the original offenders. This would explain why she had held 14 jobs in the past year and was working towards number 15.
When first interviewed, she had the apeability of mirroring those traits in her prospective employers which made them think they were hiring in their own image. But after a very short while, those bad habits her employers hated in themselves would soon manifest themselves in Aperil. Like the fact she enjoyed aperitifs and apepetizers at 12:00 noon; she never apeologized when she made an error; the fact that she had a big apetite; she miswrote apepointments; her apepearance left a lot to be desired and she did not apepreciate her employers. Aperil worked as an Apeprentice Apepraisor with the Ape Apeprehension Apepeal Apepellate Apeperratus. Etymology: ape (someone who copies the words or behavior of another or imitate uncritically and in every aspect) & ability (the quality of being able to perform; a quality that permits or facilitates achievement or accomplishment) & capability (an aptitude that may be developed) Created by: Nosila.

Comments on Apeability:

How apepropraite… a very ‘punny’ story.

Mustang, 2008-06-09: 02:47:00

Mimirkry: /-MIM-urk-ree-/ Cheryl would sometimes sing to herself when listening to her iPod — not loud enough to bother anyone (or so she thought). But when Yvonne, her roommate, would do the same thing but much louder, Cheryl was sure, and out-of-key, it was just so irritating. And since Yvonne and Cheryl liked almost all of the same songs, it was even worse, because it was just a tuneless mimirkry of the same songs Cheryl found herself singing along to. Etymology: Mimicry – the act of mimicking; imitative behavior (from Greek, mimikos “of or pertaining to mimes”) + Irk – to irritate, annoy, or exasperate (from Middle English, irken “to grow tired, tire”) Created by: Tigger.

Donald compensates for lack of action with a huge celibaspree

DEFINITION: v. To compensate for lack of love, attention and/or sexual favors by buying things, lots of things. n. An object purchased to compensate for sexual dawdling.

So how are you adjusting to married life?

VERBOTICISMS: (Invented words created by the Verbotomy Writers)

Celibaspree: /-SEL-uh-buh-spree-/ Donald had now been married for six years — the ‘honeymoon’ period was long over — and his wife no longer looked for excuses to spend time with him; quite the opposite, in fact. Having little else to occupy his attention, he spent most of his spare time in the garage restoring his old Mustang. Once he got into it, he found all sorts of extra parts, tools and accessories he could buy for the car. Donald went on a celibaspree, buying new spoilers, chrome valve covers, and new seats for Rose’s birthday… Rose was the name of Donald’s Mustang, not his wife, (he’d been so busy with the car, he’d forgotten his wife’s birthday this year). Etymology: Celibacy – abstention from sexual relations (from L. cælibatus “state of being unmarried”) + Spree – a period, spell, or bout of indulgence; e.g. a shopping spree (alteration of Fr. esprit “lively”) Created by: Tigger.

Good word- experts say one needs security in marriage.

Dotcompensate: /dot com pen sate/ Eddie lived a hermitic existance in a basement bedroom in his parents’ house.
He had no life other than that lived through his best friend, his computer.
He called her Della, because she was a Dell, the romantic fool. Everyday he showered her with things he bought for her on e-bay and amazon and every imagineable shopping website. A fancy mousepad here, a scanner there, software programs to last her a lifetime. In other words, he dotcompensated for the fact that she was the only female who responded to him. Oh sure, sometimes she would freeze up if he had spoken harshly to her or she’d need her hard drive tweaked. To show his affection, he would go straight to a new site and order her something nice to make her happy. Yes, Eddie was one lonely geek, who’s mother ever dispared of becoming a granny! Etymology: dot.com (A company whose business is based around a website) & compensate (adjust or make up for;make up for shortcomings or a feeling of inferiority by exaggerating;the act of furnishing an equivalent thing in the place of another) Created by: Nosila.

Nosila’s beertrayal is based on an embarassingly true fact

DEFINITION: v. To share a true but extremely embarrassing story about a close personal friend at the worst possible time. n. A moment of ill-timed honesty.

In fact, before she knew her husband...

VERBOTICISMS: (Invented words created by the Verbotomy Writers)

Beertrayal: /beer tray al/ Sonia was the bridesmaidzilla from hell.
A quiet friend whom the bride, Terry, had confided in since they met in high school, had changed personas when she imbibed in copious amounts of beer or other refreshments. After the stress of the wedding day and all the demands placed on her, Sonia had let loose at the reception. In Vino Veritas indeed…in beer is beertrayal, in champagne is pain, in rye is awry, in rum is rumbled, in brandy is randy and in cider is insider inside her!

She grabbed the mike and wrapped her mouth around the end of it (was his name Mike, she could not remember?). She blabbed the usual sophomoric tittle-tattle about Terry being the school bike and then to the utter shock of everyone, especially the poor groom (a Baptist Pastor), she uttered the words that the bride had never hoped to hear again. Before she passed out on stage, exposing to the guests the fact that she wore no underpants, Sonia blabbed that Terry had had gender reassignment surgery…yes, the bride really used to be a groom! Etymology: beer (one of many alcohol beverages when taken in excess can loosen the tongue, shed inhibitions and lose discretion) & betrayal (to reveal unintentionally,to fail or desert especially in time of need, to disclose in violation of confidence or to lead astray) Created by: Nosila.

Tawdrimat: /Taw-DREE-mat/ It was pure pentathol, when the best man, grinning like a cheshire cat, told the wedding guests that he knew the bride when she was Brian – not Brianna. And don’t think that his tawdrimat ended there, as he continued to “wash the dirty linen” in public of the whole bridal party, including that of the “polygamous” priest who married them, yelling: “How many women has he married?” Etymology: TAWDRY: shameful, indecent, base, low, trashy, meretricious; tawdry secret, tawdry motives. LAUNDROMAT: A place where one can wash their “dirty linen” in public. PENTATHOL (sodium pentathol):truth serum Created by: OZZIEBOB.

Nosila, 2008-06-04: 23:03:00
Great minds think alike, eh? Actually most weddings I find have something like this happen…

Trooble: /troo-ble/ As a parish priest, and the ear of the confessional, reverend Tom was privy to everyone’s dirty laundry. Unfortunately after a glass of wine or two, he would start to trooble, which wasn’t so bad until he starting troobling on the church’s new blog… And so now everyone’s troobles, were googled. Etymology: true + trouble Created by: wordmeister.

Blabomination: /-blab-bom-uh-NAY-shun-/ Susan realized that she should have assigned someone to curb her best friend’s consumption of Fuzzy Navel’s at her wedding reception when Brandi suddenly grabbed the microphone. Her scandalous chronology of Susan’s ex-boyfriends, and her awful breakups with them, was a total blabomination, and was recieved only with shocked silence. Afterward, Susan calmly walked over to the videographer, who had recorded the whole thing, threatened him with violence if didn’t edit that speech out of the wedding video, borrowed a phone and tried to find a number for a Homicide Hotline, if there was such a thing. Etymology: Blab – to reveal indiscreetly and thoughtlessly (back formation from Middle English, blabberen “to talk idly”) + Abomination – a vile, shameful, or detestable action (from Latin, abominatus “shun as an ill omen”) Created by: Tigger.

Nosila’s stylish Regaliac wins on the catwalk of words

DEFINITION: n. A person who likes to dress up and seems to have a different outfit for every occasion. v. To dress up in fancy clothes whenever you go out because you don’t know who you’re going to meet, and you don’t want to get dressed down.

Alright boys, let's start digging!

VERBOTICISMS: (Invented words created by the Verbotomy Writers)

Regaliac: /re gay lee ak/ Marisa was a regaliac for sure. She had an outfit, with accessories, for every mood, occasion, national holiday, season and impulse. To say she was overdressed and over the top would be putting it mildly. For instance, she wore her clotheshorse outfit going to the races;when out shopping, she had a dress made of credit cards all linked together and for a wine-tasting, she had an ensemble made entirely of corks.

Why she had even bought herself an outfit for her own funeral…a stunning little black dress with grave accents and a hat with a horse-drawn cortege around the brim. Hopefully it would still be in style by then! Etymology: regalia (especially fine or decorative clothing)& maniac (an insane person) Created by: Nosila.

Pradaddiction: /-pra-duh-DIK-shun-/ In order to combat her Pradaddiction, Carrie was sent to a rehab center where the patients were only allowed to wear Crocs, those cheap, ugly, plastic shoes. Luckily for her, after a few days, her co-dependant shopping buddies came up with a plan. They borrowed a utility van, smuggled her out of the rehab center and brought her straight to the mall downtown. ‘No woman could ask for better friends,’ thought Carrie, as rifled through her credit cards to find one that wasn’t maxed-out. Etymology: Prada – a well-known Italian fashion company; designer of clothing and shoes, commonly mentioned in S&TC (originally “Prada Brothers”, founded in 1913 by Mario Prada in Milan) + Addiction – complusive need characterized by obsessive behavior (from Latin, addictus “assigned, surrendered”) Created by: Tigger.
