You know when your bank statement shows money you never knew you had, only to discover that you were accidentaly credited with someone else’s deposit, after you spent it, of course. When you wait for the mail and are delighted to get lots of letters. Except, they are just bills and junk mail…no correspondence from friends. You are excited to get a tax refund of $500, only to find out your spouse owes them $2000 and you are going to have to help him out to pay for it. The worst though is when you are a kid and so excited about Santa, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, only to finally find out it is really your parents. That’s fleelation! Unjoyment: /É™ndʒɔɪmÉ™nt/ The bad news is that a child’s life can be filled with moments of unjoyment. Some of the biggest are when they try to share great discoveries with adults. The white cardboard telescopes you found in your mom’s bathroom trashcan… how excited the dog gets when you rub certain parts of his tummy… Others moments need no adult intervention at all to quash the fun. Discovering that semi-sweet chocolate is a lie… that amusement park really means scare the bejesus out of you… that you are NOT the next Tony Hawk… The good news is that eventually get to become an adult and can start helping your kids unjoy their lives.
