Verbotoweek: Jabberwocky Wins!

Congratulations Jabberwocky:

This week’s easy overall winner was Jabberwocky with five strong words: dresspionage, inadequacedey, peddlerpushers, stunveilment and reflexcellegy.
Most verbotomists find it hard to come up with one, or two good words a week, but five definitely deserves the week’s honours. Congratulations!

And dear Jabberwocky, please answer this question: Which defintion and word are you going to choose for your Cup of Verbotomy?

To The Definitions:
This week’s task was again to take five social situations and capsulize them into one word, instead of fifteen, or twenty. Not an easy assignment, but our creative and dynamic Verbotomists met the challenges in interesting, humourous and demiurgic ways. Bravo to all.
We saw a cash challenged shopper shropp, stashandcarry, consumouflage, delayaway and commit dresspionage while the floorstalkers, shopcreepers, clurks, peddlerpushers and salesassassins lurked in the background trying to make a sale and a quick buck.
The impenetrable packaging on our goods created bloody fingernails, as well as cellopain, attackaging, shrinkorrhage, incaplasticate, autodiscomutilate and peelandheal.
The last two situations focused on our human need to answer that damn phone no matter what, causing automatonate, callflex, comproinstinctivringobsession, oughtoreply, phonepulsion and technobliged and the nightmarish image of having to start a project all over again from point zero causing a plightbulbmoment, an eslipphany, an apocalapse, an oemeffgy, or an ohnoment.
For all five definitions and situations our Verbotomists created amazing and brilliant Verboticisms! THANK YOU ALL!!

Are you thinking what we’re thinking? Look at word number nine by StevensonO, who by the way has three words in this Top Ten List. and finished second overall in the weekly ratings, for the second week in a row… But look at that word again! Do you see what we see? Is that an illegal word? It has space in it? How did he, or she, do that? We better call the directors to get a ruling…

Five Fabulous Words

And hey, if you have any left over votes from last week, why not go back and give these guys a little click on the shoulder… The voting never closes at Verbotomy.

Verbotoweek: The Cup of Verbotomy, Part Deux

Purpleartichokes Wins The Second Verbotomy Cup!

Congratulations to purpleartichokes for winning this week’s Verbotomy and the second Verbotomy Cup. The questions is: Will she choose one of her own words to have imprinted on her mug, or one of the many brilliant words from our other sharp witted verbotomists?

Verbotoweek in a short summarized version

Verbotomy was a cruel taskmasker this week forcing all of us to refretish our thoughts like crazed workastallics running around in a vehiciouscircle. To circumnearthegate the cyclick exertsham of nyetworking, we played micehockey in an attempt at slackofflage. This quickly developed into an addclicktion and we began to moccupy our days in ecstickit escaptasy of funemployment encouraged by the libertrim and parkingsloth in our midst. The week ended with most of us doing a deliverdance in anticipation for the weekend, getting off the carouselect of managingdelector. Hopefully, the refreshology effect of the days off will enable us to appreciate the clixation of our exertsham and we can cruisepatrol into next week mcmoshing with eagerness.

The chit-chatty gets catty:

Here’s a little chit-chat about our cross-shaving wampeter on May 2nd:

Verbotomy – 2007-05-02: 01:27:00
Today’s definition was suggested by Bulletchewer.
Thank you Bulletchewer! ~ James

mplsbohemian – 2007-05-02: 10:58:00
That picture is so disturbing on so many levels.

mplsbohemian – 2007-05-02: 11:01:00
Um, oy, that must have come off so transphobic. :\

Verbotomy – 2007-05-02: 11:11:00
About the picture… I have received a suggestion that this young lady’s allegiances are less than clear, so I have prepared an alternative portrait. Please see: Being Clear About our Allegiances. Thanks ~ James

Jabberwocky – 2007-05-02: 12:59:00
Yikes!! the options are even more disturbing – pretty soon she’ll look like Chewbacca

purpleartichokes – 2007-05-02: 13:26:00
OMG! It’s an American Hairwolf in Toondon! (Or perhaps she has a hairmone problem.)

wordmeister – 2007-05-02: 16:30:00
Chewytobacca? I wonder what JediJawa thinks of that?

Bulletchewer – 2007-05-02: 16:45:00
Always love stirring up debate, but credit’s due the artist. For some strange reason forgotten in a dream, I only ever thought of this definition applying to the male of the species…

wordmeister – 2007-05-02: 17:26:00
It appears as if this wampeter definitely needs a waxing!

Read a beard full of verboticisms here and see James alternative pictures at Being Clear About our Allegiances.

Not a loss for words, just missed a few votes

These words didn’t get many votes because some of you vote at 05:00 am EST before you even see some of the better words. If you held off you could have voted for one of these great words, in my humble opinion of course!!!

Verbotoweek: A Cup of Verbotomy Please…

Petaj Wins The Verbotomy Cup!

Congratulations to petaj for winning this week’s Verbotomy and the very first Verbotomy Cup. The questions is: What special word will she choose to have imprinted on her smiling mug? Will it be her top scoring “insultant”? Certainly an appropriate “mot” if she works at a large office…

And of course we must honor the closest competitors, Jabberwocky, Stevenson0 and Purplearitchokes. All three of these writers have been verb-to-verb with the winners each week this month, and were noun-to-noun with petaj all week long. In fact, Jabberwocky and Stevenson0 are at the very top of our list of all-time creative writers. They are also two, of the first three players, to have created over 100 verboticisms. Jabberwocky now has 100 words. Stevenson0 has 105 words. And the ersamus has 102! And guess what? Petaj is right behind these leaders with 99 words, and Purplearitchokes is following closely with 97. There are a few other players who joined Verbotomy when it was launched for beta-testing in November/December 2006, and belong to this founding group: Alchemist (96 words), ErWenn (94 words), and rikboyee (91 words). (If any of these stats are incorrect, please let us know…) Cheers to all of you! We enjoy your brilliance!

Verbotoweek in a single pair of graphs

There can certainly be eaudoubt that this week’s verbotomy challenge was strictly mindoverbatter with the insultants and indinatarys profijeeroring from our petifoul disclothesure. When the scornstar charged in with his stalkportfolio, wearing only flip flops which exacerbated his stangst and stinkytoesis, the odorosis was so significant it flattergasted the office with appreekhension. Things came to a cerebroil when the petiquette revelationship came to light and the belligerist began to snuffleupaguest right in front of abusedriver, which caused the passengers on the bus to cravewave someone they could stalkognize so they could escape the anxietydisodor. There was much to be said this week for the telekitchenesis in the mass mindcrowave. So get your fingers poised over your keyboards for this week verboticisms.

galwaywegian2007-04-23: 06:46:00
terrible, useless word. I’m giving you my vote even though you don’t deserve it!

wordmeister2007-04-23: 10:08:00
Obviously, galwaywegian works for a very large, very successful, and very expensive insulting firm. So begrudgingly, I will follow his lead and proffer my two cents to petaj.

petaj2007-04-23: 18:45:00
Thanks for the reprehensible comments. Is that the best you can do in the way of profijeering. And you call yourselves scornstars! Hmmph.

purpleartichokes2007-04-23: 19:23:00
I agree with galwaywegian. Your word is a boil on the verbotobutt, a verbotocyst. My vote was just pity points, don’t take it too seriously.

Jabberwocky had people’s tongues wagging, and stomachs turning, with marvelous sentence for Revelationship, her verbotocism about the discovering a friend’s “shrine” of somewhat compromising photos: “The revelationship that Jim had feelings for her caused her to hurl all over his new laptop.” Petaj commented “euww! vaiomit. Is there a tablet for that?”, and ohwtepph followed with “Nice… *vomits too*”. Wow! It’s amazing what you can do with all this new technology!

HEY! These words are better than most, but we ignored them this week!! WHY?!?!?!

Verbotoweek: Trying to Verbotomize Vonnegut

Rikboyee Wins!

Congratulations to rikboyee for winning this week’s Verbotomy, played in tribute to Kurt Vonnegut. It is also fittingly coincidyll that Stevenson0, (Sony Stevenson was a character in ‘The Sirens of Titan’ and also featured in some Vonnegut TV spinoffs) should do so well. and Jabberwocky true to it’s nonsensical namesake set a fast pace early in the week with a wicked placeebull.

Without the benefib of a lullalie, this week’s words were a taopestry of meshergy and kismesh. While the fishtorians in the group may have a different pointofviewtopia and perhaps be jealeash of the erosponge reference, for the slaveheart, it was the paradaxiom antidoter for the anecdontalist/anecdadalist in all of us. As the tangentvangelist once said to his domimator, “It’s just a diggdang of chickenpoup”. So let us all be cheerfullofit and toast the master who holds the key to finding the chronosynclastic infundibulum (Kurt Vonnegut) and keep those caterpillaries charged for the next Verbotomy challenge. As Sony Stevenson once said, “Sometimes the obvious is obviously obvious.”

Top five verboticisms of the week:

  1. placeebull Created by: Jabberwocky
  2. loveshackler Created by: rikboyee
  3. benefib Created by: Stevenson0

Which inspired some dangerously creative conversations…

Playdohheart verbacious creativity had a host Verbotomy Writers keyboarding a full tilt with this sentence for anecdadalist

“When I was younger I only had one pair of pants. They were purple plaid flares and all the other kids made fun of me. And when you bring up the subject of pants, I think of that and then I get all worried that I’m still just the kid with the proverbial purple plaid flares and you’re such an angel of miraculous beauty. I’m going to go lay down now because I’m upset. I don’t think I can go out to dinner tonight until I feel validated as a man again… you know… sexually.” She sighed, realizing she should have known better than to ask Jim, the master anecdadalist, if she looked fat in these pants.

purpleartichokes2007-04-18: 06:00:00
Fantastic sentence! Can’t wait til the book comes out!

Jabberwocky2007-04-18: 08:54:00
you get my vote for a great story

Bulletchewer2007-04-18: 13:03:00
Just realised that your name could’ve worked for yesterday’s definition. I’ve seen murderers with shorter sentences, mind.

Jabberwocky2007-04-18: 13:17:00
Be careful with your acid-ic comments Bulletchewer. Keep in mind Playdoheart’s heart is made of playdoh

playdohheart2007-04-18: 14:52:00
Ha, you’re right about the name relating to yesterday! But I think a playdohheart would be the one having his or her life molded by someone like a domimator. I did get a bit carried away by the novel-ty of my sentence(/paragraph), but it appears I’ll do anything to make the punchline work… the best jokes are dangerous.

And Alchemist’s Noodality inspired a few well-chosen words…

petaj2007-04-20: 07:55:00
If Jeff was also a good naturist too, then your etymology could include ‘nude’!

Alchemist2007-04-20: 08:51:00
done!

wordmeister2007-04-20: 10:27:00
Wow, creative collaboration! Dan Pink would be proud of your group kayveeisms.

And finally, a few clever words that deserve a second look…
