They refuse to eat while I am gone and ignore whoever is serving their physical needs. Then when I return their excitement and curiosity at my return is soon replaced with aloofness. I am being paid back for my abandonment of them for a while. Then, they are back to normal...asking what I brought them, what's for dinner and why haven't I bought any more catnip.
