Trichotrauma

petaj

Created by: petaj

Pronunciation: trick-o-traw-ma

Sentence: It was a cold Halloween and the neighbourhood was filled with the joyful sound of families laughing and enjoying themselves. Suddenly a horrendous screech filled the night and an eerie silence descended on the revellers. Was it a spirit raised from the dead, was it an escaped pet cockatoo, was it Aunty Em practising her singing? No. It was a hairy legged Dad who had banned his children from trick or treating. In revenge his darling children had ripped duct tape from his knee, to see him suffer from trichotrauma. "Faaaaaghlicle" he screamed as the second piece was stripped off.

Etymology: tricho (hair) + trauma (injury)

Rapidepilagony

metrohumanx

Created by: metrohumanx

Pronunciation: RAP-ih-DEE-pill-AAAAH-gunny (try it a few times fast)

Sentence: Mister Martindale had a very unremarkable wound- merely an irritation of the skin caused by his misguided attempts to defuse a noxolene germ bomb in his basement. He applied the largest adhesive bandage he could find and all seemed well until he asked Lulu to remove it from his forearm. Forearmed with the knowledge that RAPID removal was the preferred method of painless revelation, Lulu gripped the bandage and gritted her artificially whitened yet still appealing teeth. Mr Martindale was sweating like a piece of rancid pork, for he knew what awaited him.....................RAPIDEPILAGONY! It lasted but a nanosecond, but was like de-velcroizing the Wolfman. With tears in his eyes, Mr Martindale pulled Lulu to his chest and they gazed, stupefied, at the offending ex-bandage which looked like a cross between a steel wool pad and a giant mutant flatworm. "I'll NEVER do that again..." said Mr Martindale." I can't take the RAPIDEPILAGONY !" ....And now about that hangnail.....

Etymology: RAPID+DEPILATE+AGONY rapid:fast , quickly..... depilate:the removal of hair, wool, or bristles by chemical or mechanical methods (latin)..... agony:severe or excruciating pain

Yes, "yank-job" sounds like it could be dirty. But it's not. - ErWenn, 2007-06-06: 01:09:00

Oh, it's still dirty, all right. Maybe not in the context you've provided, but rest assured: use of the term predates this discussion by decades. - Clayton, 2007-06-06: 07:15:00

You think my word is always the best? I guess I know who my usual one vote comes from. (Now I'm trying to think of a way of saying "thanks" that doesn't sound sarcastic after that remark.) - ErWenn, 2007-06-07: 01:16:00
